There is a force at work this very moment to establish your identity on things that will fade away. It wants you to establish your identity on friends, relationships, family, maybe even things more gripping like drugs or alcohol. And when your identity is established on these things and they leave you, what are you left with?
An identity that is demolished, and a life that is in ruin.
But I’m here to tell you that is not your destiny in Jesus name!
You see, there is a second force at work, and it too wants to establish your identity – but establish it on something that will never fade away. To establish it on something everlasting, eternal, wholly good, and perfectly righteous.
Read Revelation 22:13
Jesus Christ is that foundation – where your identity can be established and never be removed. For He said, “I Am the Alpha and Omega”. That means Jesus always was, and always is. It all started with God, and it ends with God and when you can establish your identity in that – not only can you not stay down, but you’ll be lifted to new levels you never thought were possible.
How can you be lifted to new levels?
Romans 8:11 Tells us that when we allow the Holy Spirit to operate in your life, He will quicken your bodies – which literally means to revitalize, rejuvenate, and to give us new and greater powers of life – to live a life more full then it ever was before.
Jesus says in John 10:10 that He has come to give us life – and life more abundant!
I want you to know that not only do you have the greatest life available to you – but you have a friend in the one who created YOU!
Romans 5:6-11 – 6When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
If you are a Christian, you are a friend of God’s!
The one who spoke the world into existence – spun the whole universe into motion – created you specifically – is your friend. How awesome is that!?
It’s interesting that Paul says our friendship with God was restored – sin separated us from that level of relationship with God. God use to walk with Adam in the cool of the day – but sin removed that relationship. And through the blood of Jesus it has been restored!
